I’ve just released Upload+ 2.5 alpha 1 , plugin that allow you to clean file names while you are uploading them, according to the ruleset you can define in the settings.
This new release ships with a first try at WordPress 2.5 new admin interface, but the best feature of this release is the new charset control, that allow partial transliteration from non-latin characters (cyrillic, arabic…) into more ‘regular’ ones.
